1984
Everything is still a mystery. Winston was asking himself in the cafeteria, "did the food use to taste better". Winston said thatthere is no history. And nothing is promised for the future. Like when Big Brother said the chocolate rasion would not go down, but it did. But they made it sound like the chocolate rasion actually went up. Basically everything that Big Brother has said in the past can change.

1984
This book is very odd. The government has complete control of everything. They can make anything a "fact" and make anything exist or not exist. Like how Winston's friend Withers never existed. Nothing and nobody can be trusted. Everyone is paranoid. At Winston's job, nobody talks to each other. Winston doe not even know everybody name that works in his division. He does not even know what anybody does at his work place. All any body does is there job. They do not ask and do not tell anybody about their jobs. It is weird how "Big Brother" took control of everything.

Power from Trees
Currently a team of MIT researchers are using platinum electrodes and ficus plants to discover the truth of feeble electric currents from trees. They have come up with an answer. They state that the PH difference from between soil and the living tree is the cause of creating electric currents. Now scientists are debating over how to use this power for human benefits.

New Post on 1984
Winston is very paranoid, he is afraid that the government is gonna arrest him. He says that the government is watching him all the time. The government own everything. Winston said "Nothing is yours except for the few cubic meters in your skull." The government controls everything, if you do something that they do not like they will kill you. Winston is afraid because he was writing bad things about the government in his diary. So Winston is hoping the government does not kill him.

1984
This part was weird. I did not really understand the two minutes of hate. Winston explained it like it was terrible, everybody was screaming, and just doing crazy things of hate. If it is really bad why do they have it on a scheduled date? That is weird.
That is all that really struck me while I was reading this part of the book, so that is the end of my post.

When Virtue Becomes Redundant
1. My favorite quote.:
"The world owes you nothing and every gift is exactly that, a gift."
I like this quote because it tells you that you have to earn everything and that you should
not expect anything to be given to you, you have to earn it. I believe in that firmly. And you should be thankful if anything at all is given to you, because you do not deserve it.

New Book, 1984 By George Orwell
Well, the book starts out interesting right from the first sentence which says, the clocks were striking thirteen.I think he was going by military time. I wonder if it is just him that goes by military time or everybody if started to. I just thought that was interesting.
In this part of the book it says that London had a war and all the streets and houses were messed up. Well it does not say that specifically but it was talking about the streets being messed up by bombs and some of the windows of houses patched up with cardboard. Winston (The only character in the book so far.) was trying to think of memories of when he was a kid hoping that there would be some of London not being so bad.
So in the book so far Winston is really struggling with lack of food and bad London also with the government watching everybody. I will get more into it later but this is the end of my post.

Second Post on The Cut by Will Mara
Unfortunatly this is gonna be my last post on this book because I can not find a copy. I was reading a preview on google but that ran out so I reserved a book at the library that should come in by thursday. But here is my post on what I was able to read.
This is a good book but what they are trying to do in it is unheard of. The head coach of T.J's team Allen Grey is not giving T.J the money that he deserves. Grey said that he is gonna bench T.J. If I was Chet Palmer I would stop this (Chet Palmer is the general manager who commands above the head coach) you just can not bench an elite player like T.J it could potentially ruin the whole season for them. Grey is not a man that I would trust as a head coach he is doing whatever he can to keep money in his pocket even if that means destroying the offensive coordinator's scheme. He is just a very mean man.
That is all I was able to put together from what I read. Thank you for reading.

New Book Post
Oliver Twist was very boring so I wanted to get something I would enjoy so I chose The Cut by Will Mara. The Cut is a a book about football and I really like football so I got it. The book so far is about a really good football player named T.J in the NFL who is way underpaid and trying to get a better contract. T.J is the best player at his position and also one of the least paid.
In the first chapter T.J and his agent are negotiating with the General Manager Chet Palmer trying to get a better contract. Chet does not want to give T.J more money even though he knows T.J deserves it. T.J was an unknown player when the contract was first negotiated but now he is very well known and wants more money. This seems like a very good book and I cant wait to read it more but this is the end of my post.

Reading Oliver Twist.
I feel bad for Oliver. he is always hungry other than when dodger got him a big meal when he was running away from the workshop and had walked for seven days. Oliver is not wanted anywhere. It is crazy what he goes through. Like the robbery he was forced into doing. In the book Oliver cries almost every night. It looks like he is stuck with that bad group for the rest of his life. Hopefully he gets away.

New Book
This is my first post on Oliver Twist.
I wonder where Oliver's mom was coming from. It's crazy how she walked so far and when she was almost there she could'nt walk anymore. I like the nurse very much because she really cared for Oliver when he was just born. Oliver has a very unfortunate life so far. His mom died delivering him and he was put into an orphanage because nobody knows where his mom came from or who his dad is. I like how there is so many questions that need to be answered by the end of this book. I hope Olivers life gets better later in the book. I'll just have to wait and see.

Breaking Through, Finished
Well, I really liked this book. It really paints a picture of how you'r life can be without an education. Like how it talks about Francisco's dad who looks very old, tired, and angry towards the end of the book. I dont know exactly why but when I read the part about when Francisco was at the luncheon in the inn and he looked out the window and saw that man pulling weeds that reminded him of his father that is when I thought, these immagrants and people without a good eductation work very hard every day for there whole lives. And get payed very little for it. With no end in sight.
I really liked the ending when Francisco is driving to his colledge with his family and he is looking at his past. He was looking at all the stuff he would have to keep doing for the rest of his life if he did'nt go to college.
It really is amazing how Francisco helped support his family and still went to college with scholarships. that means for me it should be easy being just school fulltime.

Beaking Through chapters 6-16
Wow! This is a good story. Francisco and Roberto really inspire me because of Their great character. Like how Bob Twichel offered Francisco the type writer for free but Francisco said he would rather pay for it even though he was very poor. And when Mike Nevel offered asked francisco if he could clean the western union everyday before it opens in the moring and even though he didnt want to do it he said yes because his dad had said "never turn down work". And when Roberto found out that Franciso was was waking up extra early to go clean the Western Union he started going with him every day to help him. It is crazy how these two kids could be so respectful and hard working. I think this is crazy because kid's today (including me) complain about doing little house chores and school.
When I read the part about Susan's parents not letting Roberto go out with Susan purely because of his nationality I was kind of mad. Why should this matter? It really confuses me. Why? Everybody should be treated equal. Francisco grew up and became a great writer. He came into the country as an immagrant. This is an example of how becoming a citezen should be made easier. There could be kids in mexico that want to come over to the US to learn english and become a writer.
Well i really enjoyed reading this part of the book. I am gonna try to finish the book soon.

Breaking Through chapters 1-6
While reading chapters 1 through 6, what struck me the most was how Francisco would come home from school and start working in the fields and still was an amazing student. Also, Francisco was very happy when he was able to help his brother with his janitorial job. Moreover, this struck me because I come home from school and struggle with my homework and other then my homework all I do is play games.
Also, another thing that astonished me was how much harder he would work just to get by in the United States. And after all the hard work you do you could just have it taken away like how Francisco's dad worked hard for 10 years then got deported, and when he got back continued to work hard in the strawberry fields then his fields got over fumigated and all his hard work was for nothing
