Boy Will Be Boys

" I really don't think our philosophies could coexist. Your team don't play the way we want to play."
Can't compromise make anything work?
I think this is a classic example of a stuborn person. Just because he does not like that the other team wants to compromise, there is no change, therefor the problem does not get solved.

Boys Will Be Boys

"It's always better to be a leader then an assistant."
Is this really true?
I do not think it is. Because when you are a leader you are suppose to be a good example of what everybody should be like. When you are an assistant you take orders from the leader but you get freedoms that the leader does not. So I do not think this statment is completly true.

Boys Will Be Boys

"With all my expertise in coaching, we came close to winning a game."
With all the hard work that was put into the team, was it worth it knowing that they were a lot better then the year before, even though they were still not good at all?
I think this shows that some problems take time to be solved. Even with the best of us. And this team was very, very bad. So even coaching legend Jimmy Johnson couldn't solve all the problems.

Boys Will Be Boys

"Now that the way to end a playing career."
If your career is not as great as you want it to be but you end strong should you be happy?
I think that a good career is something that you can keep getting better at. Something challenging.
And if you get good and end strong, you should be content.

Third post, Boys Will Be Boys

"The head coah lost his way. It happens to all of us the miles add up, the brain gets a tad fuzzy."
Does this happen to all of us? With everything?
I think that eventually you loose your talent for everything. No matter how hard you try, it's gonna happen.

Boys Will Be Boys, second post

"He had a great run with the Cowboys,  but it was over. It was time for a change and the owner knew that."
How did they know that the changing of a head coach would have been good for the team?
I think he saw that the new head coach they were hiring had great potential. He had to take a risk to make the Cowboys better. I think he understood that if you don't take chances, you wont have any.

Finally got my internet and my book today!

Boys Will Be Boys by Jeff Pearlman

"Thee Cowboys contained football magic. Football aura. Football greatness. Then, one day, it vanished."
What exactly did the Cowboys loose that made them not so great anymore?
Was it just because the old veterans had retired and the young stars were growing old? This shows that you have to savor every moment of the glory because it does not last forever for anyone. Everybody grows old and just can't do stuff that they use to be able to do.

QQC

This week I read Sports Illustrated magazine for my reading journal.

The quote that I found interesting was "Schemes don't win football games, PLAYER WIN football games. What he was basically saying was, it doesen't matter how you'r players are set up or what the game plan is, as long as you have better players the the other team you will win. I do not find this to be true. Most games are won and lost by the better game plan. Take the the dolphins as an example, they had only won one game in the entire 2006 season, then came back and won twelve the next season all because they had a very good scheme.

In-class reading journal

Here is the quote I chose: "although they're (the flowers) brown and flat and brittle, they remind him that even in wretched times, concern, gratitude, love and devotion to others can still live on in the heart of man." My question for the writer is, does he show these when he needs to. "in wretched times." I also want to know how to grow in these so I can be the best person I can be.

I like how he wrote this book, made it interesting, and sent out a message. He ends the book very strongly with this quotation. I think the point of most books is to get messages out. The authors that communicate their message well are the better writers. I think that H.G Wells communicated his point great.

Second Post on Boys will be Boys

This book is very interesting. It takes you inside the life of an NFL player. On and off the field. During my reading I have seen the devotion of some players coming early to practice and staying late. I have also seen slacking players who show up late to practice and leave as soon as they can. The person that stays at practice the longest (Which is Michael Irvin) is the best person on the team. This goes to show who ever works the hardest, does the best.

Reading Journal

I ordered a book from the library "Boys Will be Boys" it is about the dallas cowboys football team in the 90's. But it has not arrived yet. So I decided I would read the beginning of it on google, and hopefully the book will arrive before next week.

The book starts out saying "Michael Irving new he was screwed." I like how he jumps right into the story. Michael Irving was a great football player on the Dallas Cowboys in th 90's. The book begins saying that no one is above the law. Michael Irving stabbed his teamate in the neck because he would not let him skip ahead in the barber shop line. Irving has an explosive attitude and gets frustrated easily. In fact one time he punched a referee at a charity basketball game because he did'nt agree with his call. Anyways I did'nt get to read much but what I did read was great and I can't wait to get this book.
